New Speakeasy Brings The Roaring

New Speakeasy Brings The Roaring 20s To The Theater District In NYC: See Here

NEW YORK CITY — A new bourbon speakeasy-style bar in the heart of the Theater District has opened in Midtown.

Carver Hospitality has teamed up with Remus Bourbon by Ross & Squibb Distillery to create “The Blue Vault,” a bar inspired by the Roaring 20s and the legacy of George Remus, the infamous Prohibition-era bootlegger once dubbed the “King of the Bootleggers,” officials told Patch.

The space is an intimate lounge and bar offering a one-of-a-kind experience with a floor-to-ceiling exhibit of world-famous theater memorabilia from shows like “Kinky Boots”, “Wicked” as well as inventive, bourbon-based cocktails.

The 18-seat tasting room is located behind a concealed entrance, on the second floor of the CIVILIAN Hotel at 305 W 48th St in Midtown.

The Blue Vault features a curated list of classic bourbons and bourbon-based cocktails inspired by the Prohibition era and created by Alec Kass, Beverage Director at Carver Road Hospitality and the bar team at Rosevale Cocktail Room.

Guests can choose a number of cocktails, including:

The West Egg Cocktail: with bourbon, amaro, peach, cacao, and coconut;

“The Blue Vault is an intimate speakeasy where the worlds of history, theater, and whiskey converge. Guests will discover a storytelling menu and rare spirits presented with the flair of Remus’s bootlegging legend. The experience evokes both a chef’s table and a live performance, with mixology placed at the center stage unlike anything else in this part of town.” Kass told Patch.

Customers can also expect a diverse food menu from chef Daniel Ontiveros. Notable dishes include:

Salmon Tartare Cones: with avocado mousse, tobiko, rice pearls, and spicy soy.

Steak Tartare: with cornichons, dijon, frico, and truffle.
